I kind of think both pieces are equally beautiful, I can see that in the newer one is very neat and clear and pretty. But in the second everything seems to be surrounded by smog, and it just seems darker. It's like seeing two different takes or views from different people with different lifestyles, or the same area from several decades ago compared to in present time. It seems like it would be a good prompt for writers or something like that, but I think both pictures are really beautiful, but you have improved, definitely.
these are both amazing, and the change in your painting style is incredible. I really love the "mood" of the first painting. I guess I'm usually drawn to more desolate, dark pieces. The style with which you painted the newer version is incredible, though. you have crazy talent!
I think i like the first one more because of the mood, it looks more nostalgic, like a cold fall rainy day... that kind of day makes you wish to be at home with a cup of coffe... the second looks like a summer drizzle!!! but both are GOOD!!! you are awesome
Jakbym miała powiedzieć, która lepsza... nie umiem. Obie wyglądają - moim zdaniem - pięknie, mają tylko jakby inny styl i charakter Starsza wersja wygląda mroczniej, poważniej, smutniej, ta nowa jest bardziej "uporządkowana", wyraźniejsza, weselsza Podziwiam twoje umiejętności, naprawdę. I życzę powodzenia!
Congratulations on being a semi-finalist. Though, I must say, I actually prefer the old one to the new. Not to say that the new one is bad, because it most certainly isn't, but I don't really feel much improvement going on here. It's not necessarily improvement to me but more like different atmospheres or artistic representations. The newer one does look as though you got the more technical aspects of watercolor down, but the old one still has it's appeal.
I think the first one looks better for its gritty feel and emotion. It pulls me in with its suggested depth and makes me want to stay a while.
The second one looks like a type of snazzy retro advertisement, which personally puts me off as I dislike ads. It also looks very flat and doesn't keep my eyes in the image - as there's too much going on and no good focus.
That said, I personally see these two as different styles rather than a skill improvement. For that it is nice to see different takes on one scene.
Y'know after looking through so many of the Draw This Again entries -- your entry leaves me with mixed feelings. Here's what I mean...I kind of like the character of the old one. The wet on wet technique and darker palette fits with a rainy day. (A bit more Turner like.) The new one is nice and shows a stronger technique -- but it somehow feels less spontaneous. I hope that makes sense.
Wow, your technique now is really fantastic! This is amazing improvement. I also love the colours in the improved one. The shading of the buildings and the blending in the sky looks really good. Congrats!
